Nice. I've often considered the xB when car shopping. But since I am stuck getting an auto since my wife can't/won't drive a manual, I always pass it up because Toyota's automatic is ancient in the xB. If you unbolt the rear seats in those, there is a TON of room. I did the same thing when I had my Nissan cube. Just threw a carpet remnant in there and it was great for when I had to take my dogs somewhere.

If it’s a 2AZ-FE model, check to see it’s not leaking oil or coolant from the head. The 2AZ-FE is known to suffer from stripped head bolts just from age and mileage. It seems to mainly affect the older ones (2003-2006)

It’s the 2AZ-FE, which is the 2.4L. I forgot that the second generation xB kept that engine for the entire production run (the 2.4L was pretty much replaced by the 2.5L 2AR-FE by 2010). The issues seem to be most common in models that had this engine between 2002-2006:

Camry Solara

RAV-4

Highlander

Scion tC

Toyota supposedly fixed the issue for 2007.
